A Healthy Chocolate Cake Recipe



Here’s a cake recipe that’s not only tasty but pretty dang good for you as well! The added greek yogurt gives it a moistness to counter act the seven grain flour (which is a way healthier option than bleached white flour).


2 large eggs

Either 2 cups of sugar or 1 cup of maple syrup

1 1/2 cups greek yogurt

1/2 cup apple sauce

3 tea vanilla

1 cup coffee (cooled)

1 cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder

2 cups of Great Mills Organic 7 grain flour

2 tea baking soda

1 tea baking powder

1 tea salt


1/4 cup coconut oil

12 ounces dark chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 9×13 pan.

Mix together eggs, sugar, yogurt, applesauce, and vanilla.  Add coffee and cocoa powder.  Mix until smooth.  Add the remaining cake ingredients until combined.  Pour batter into pan.  Bake for 30 minutes.  Cake is done when a toothpick comes out clean.

As the cake is cooling, make the frosting.

Over a double boiler, heat the chocolate and coconut oil together, stirring until smooth.  Top the cooled cake.
